For concrete pavers, the base material is critical. You'll need a well-compacted layer of gravel for drainage, followed by a layer of sand for setting the pavers. The pavers themselves are usually made from a dense concrete mix designed for strength and durability. Proper installation ensures a stable and long-lasting surface in San Jose.

For paving slabs in San Jose, a concrete mix with a strength of at least 4000 psi is recommended. It should contain air-entrainment to resist freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing salts, though less critical in San Jose's climate. A slump of 4-5 inches is typical for workability. Using the right mix ensures durability and longevity for your project.
